Sarah Sweeney, Program Director
Sarah is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Psychotherapy and is the Program Director at OMARR. Sarah has completed my honors B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from Queens University. Since completing her education Sarah has worked as a front-line addictions counselor in residential treatment centres for 15 years and for the last 11 years Sarah was an Addiction Counselor on an inpatient psychiatric treatment facility which specialized in concurrent disorders.
Sarah has quoted “During my career, I have had the honour of seeing the transformation of thousands of people. I know recovery isn’t just a possibility, it is a reality. My responsibility is to motivate my clients into believing that their life is worth saving and the power is absolutely within them to save it. I am often asked how can I do this work? The answer I give is that the most difficult part of this work is not people stories of their experiences, the heartbreaking part is when someone cannot see how wonderful they are. Working with people who are in recovery brings me into contact with some truly fantastic people I would have never had the honor to meet otherwise.”
